Circulation and Filtration

Proper filtration and circulation are essential for the removal of debris, as well as the dispersal of chemicals evenly throughout your pool. In fact, 90 percent of pool problems are due to improper filtration and circulation. Understanding the proper use of return jets, the pump and the filter will go a long way toward eliminating most problems.

Water Circulation

The return jets keep the water moving and spread the chemicals evenly throughout the pool. To maximize circulation, position your return jets at a 45-degree angle downward and establish an overall-circulation pattern in the pool to minimize dead spots.

Pump and Filter Operation

During pool start-up and heavy-use periods, run the pump continuously. Running your pump 24 hours a day is ideal to prevent pool problems. In order to qualify for the Sustain System Algae-Free Limited Warranty, you must run the pump at least 12 hours each day. The pump and filter serve as the heart of your pool's filtration and circulation system. Check both frequently for performance and consult your Authorized Sustain System Dealer if you have questions.
